VERSATILE
You market the MAO for "flat footed" people, but I have the opposite problem: high arches and plantar fasciitis.  I thought maybe the foam supports would be too thin for me, but they are just right.  I am using them in my yoga class too. :)
Thank you for creating such a promising product. - Susan, Ontario
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Can I use my MAO for other barefoot sports?
The MAO were developed and initially tested in dojos but are now successfully used by yoga and Pilates practitioners. Their use is also currently extending to dancers who either prefer to be barefooted in their dance shoes or who need arch support in points and Irish dance socks.

2.     Can I wear the MAO instead of my regular orthotics?
The short answer is no.  The MAO are an open toe and open heel arch support sock intended to help individuals perform martial arts for the duration of a training session of approximately one hour. They are not a substitute for regular daily wear foot orthotics.

3.     Can I wear MAO if I don’t already wear arch supports such as orthotics?
Although we have included low density starter arch pads to help users get used to the MAO, users might experience discomfort while getting used to the MAO. This is especially true if you do not already wear regular arch support devices such as orthotics. If you are unsure if this product is right for you, we highly recommend consulting your medical foot practitioner before using the MAO.

4.     Why are the arch pads difficult to insert in the pouch?
Several designs (actually, quite a few) were tried to make the wedge easy to insert. The problem that arose is that when the wedge is easy to insert, it's also easy to come out. We have made the arch pads stay in the pocket no matter the intense twisting or lateral pressure exerted on the foot by making a channel for the wedge to enter by.  This makes the wedge difficult to insert but also difficult to come out.

5.     Can I use custom arch pads with my MAO?
While custom arch pads may be inserted if they conform to the shape of the pouch, they must be shock absorbent. The supplied arch pads are of a density which absorbs impacts from the bottom of the foot while performing various stances in martial arts.

 6.     How long will my MAO last?
The MAO sleeves are made of abrasion resistant polypropylene, edged with spandex and sewn with high abrasion resistant nylon and friction resistant twisted polyester thread.  The arch pads are made of a chemical resistant closed cell polyethylene which will compress very slightly after initial use. The duration of the MAO will vary depending on the type of tatami floor and the frequency, intensity and duration of training.

These (MAO)  have helped my high-arched foot immensely. Without these awesome arch supports, I would not have been able to earn my First Degree Black Belt or win a National Championship in Traditional Forms. I am currently pursuing my Second Degree Black Belt and your product is a vital part of my journey!

Bought a pair for my 9 year old son who participates in Taekwondo. Lessons on hardwood floors have caused him to develop plantar fasciitis. Over-the-counter orthotics helped him somewhat, but weren't Taekwondo friendly. His instructor needed to see his foot position during lessons, and other orthotics interfered with this. I stumble upon MAO by accident, but was willing to give them a try. From the moment my son used these he noted that they worked much better than other orthotics we tried. He wears them for practice, and has recently even started wearing the around the house. These have been a godsend for him, and they are worth every penny!

I got orthotics for my everyday shoes but am barefoot 5 hours a day, 6 days a week doing the martial arts instructing.  I have been pain free for several months now which I would attribute to your product in conjunction with the one's for my shoes.

My son had training last night with his new MAO's and found them great. He reported that he had no foot pain after training. This really is a great result for him. He said that he feels he will enjoy his training much more now that he doesn't need to have to handle foot pain during and after training. He's also really happy that he can slide over the mats more easily - a bonus! You've created a wonderful product, and I'll certainly be telling everyone about how good they are.

10 years ago my arches failed & I was diagnosed with chronic plantar fasciitis & heel spurs... Thankfully I found martial arts orthotics that give the small amount of compression and support I need for the barefoot activities of karate. No more pain for me.

"The MAO are feeling really good.  I notice an improvement in my balance, and there is another big improvement: I had a very odd problem that soon after hitting the dojo floor in bare feet, all of my toes would go completely numb for a good while.  That didn't happen at all these last two classes.
